Santa Pictures-What could they be asking for?

Becket is asking for a retro Christmas this year.  He wonders where all of his old toys have disappeared to, flying jet, R2D2 control, robotic dinosaur?



I'm guessing Gretchen desires a mansion, but she'll have to settle for what we got her.



And Micah wants anything that screams girl

Tomorrow we shall find out!

A Christmas Visit

We had a chance to visit Grandpa Harris on our way down to St. George. It was the best Christmas present to me because he is such a wonderful man.

I flat out asked him: "Grandpa, you've lived all this time, what's your advice to us?"

Grandpa, " Well, in the war I learned how to kill people for 3yrs and then I spent the rest of my life loving people. Just be happy.Don't wake up and decide who you're going to be mad at that day. We all have our weaknesses. Be happy and love each other."

 After he said that, there was a knock at the door and it was carolers on a hay wagon. Magical. This is him listening. It brought tears to my eyes. This man loves being with his family and he truly gets this earth life. 

Merry Christmas Grandpa Harris.


 

Date weekend

Mat's sister was able to take our kids for the weekend so we played. We got dumped on with snow so you know the only thing we know how to do in the snow is Xski.  Beautiful! Really beautiful when we saw the line going up little cottonwood.





Then we headed downtown to hunt out our eclectic shop. This time we found George's Garage. He's got a long beard and he's a longtime hoarder. They usually aren't able to part with their stuff and they price it a bit too high, but we were able to find some things for future projects you know how we like our projects! 








After,  we enjoyed some Indian food and a quiet house. As for the kids, they had more fun then they could stand. Gretchen learned how to fold Christmas trees out of old magazines and now our house is decorated with all 12 of them. She was unstoppable.

And Micah decided that she would be Santa's secret elf helper.  That's right! When she wakes up in the morning, you'll never know if she'll wear pajamas or her evening gown. To each their own around here.

It's that time of year again where we (should) all take a moment to remember how I barely squeezed out of death to come to this earth and live.  35 years seems so long ago, but I'm sure for many of you, it feels like yesterday--and I appreciate that. I am glad to be a survivor of the umbilical cord.  I will wear a rope  ribbon today as a symbol to life and I will run my own 10K.  I would just like to thank everyone for your support and their donations of time to my cause. Please do not send me any money.  Use it to help the other umbilical babies in the hospital today, for they are truly the miracles of the future--if the world doesn't end today.

As for what I'll do today....

10K -completed
shower completed
brush teeth- after I eat my chocolate at 9 in the morning
call the hospital for other survivors and give them words of encouragement
Make fun of kids tv shows silently in my head-it's all too easy and it's sinful.
Satisfy any food cravings for lunch
Wait for Mat to get home so he can put me on his shoulders and give my growing pains a rest already
Play laser tag with friends and shoot their lights out - literally
Have a little fro yo--remember to bring candles
Have my kids tuck me in with some warm milk and sing me to sleep

Micah's tribute birthday song

Sweetly Singing All the While

Gretchen had a plethora of choir concerts to attend to. Good thing she had her sweet school shirt to wear to ALL of them!

First off The Jordan Valley School! School with special needs.




I actually ran into some kids I knew in Hershey .  Didn't expect to make the connection. I also ran into my friend Eileen. 

A few evenings later Gretchen preformed for the parents. I told all my children to use the bathroom before we left the house and what do they do? You guessed it! Didn't listen and had to go not once, but twice while we were there. Maybe I should get a shirt that says My Children Are Awesome!  They are great, but the irony in these Mom moments slay me.





We later had ice cream with some friends at our favorite ice cream stop, Macey's. the yogurt was unfortunately out. Next time.

Grandma's Been Sick, Sick Sick

On it. We made some chicken noodle soup which turned out to be loads of fun.  I forget how simple and fun noodle making can be.

I actually worked ahead this year and did a little work on them over three days.  You know, when you do that, you tend not to freak out in the third hour.  I think I will remind myself to start early every year.

What he be up to?

This is starting to become a blog about Mat's projects isn't it?  Well, that's what we've been up to around here so that's what we're posting.



We see him working on something, but what? Excuse the mouthful.  When he gets this involved, I have to manually feed him little bites so he eats, otherwise he forgets and passes out from hunger and fumes.

Here's the finished drafting table for Beck. It was one of those projects that took longer than we thought--but turned out lovely.



I managed to finish my paper wreath.  I unfortunately take weeks to finish a project.  Too many kid interruptions which I'm okay with, except when I'm  not okay with it.

Tip #537

When putting your waffle iron away, make sure you aren't leaving a waffle in it.  That way, when you're ready to make waffles again, you're not surprised at the burnt waffle smell as your waffle iron warms up.

Cousin Camp

Cousin Camp was hosted by this crazy lady and her husband Matt after our Thanksgiving dinner.  It was so kind of them to let us have a couple's night out.
