A Few Parties

We did get to celebrate the girls' birthdays with a few friends just before school started and just after school started.  Micah's birthday landed us right in a house mess trying to get baseboards done and the cabinets fixed. It makes me twinge thinking about it.

She planned her party and I always find they go great when they do that! Make pizza, decorate cupcakes, and watch studio C.  Gretchen came up with a game called hide the present.  When guests arrived, Gretchen and additional girls went around the house looking for a perfect place to hide their gift.  Genius.  It was a lot of fun and it gave them something to do while we were waiting for the others.

I couldn't have done it without these two, Sister Coleman and Sister Owens.  They were in need of a service project and I just so happened to need a few extra hands in the kitchen.  LIFESAVERS.  They helped the assembly lines and helped with cleanup (which is always exhausting after throwing a party).

Becket also was a good sport, oh, I mean wolverine with spatulas? Turners? Flippers? Whatever you call them, they were our party favors along with sprinkles and their decorated cupcakes.

One party down, one more to go.  Gretchen wanted it low key this year.  "I want a girl's night out. Just me and my friends." How about a girl's afternoon out---there were some things going on in the evening that we had committed to and had to be there. I don't normally throw a ton of birthday parties, but you feel like your kid was neglected a tad with all that had been going on this summer, so why not?

She planned it. She loved it. Enough said.
