Things we've been doing to keep ourselves this long, not so cold January.
Need your kids to stay busy an hour, buy some of this stuff -it's like play doh but doesn't roam.
There is also this new app called Yakit that also entertained my kids one whole Sunday morning.
I've really have just loved spending time with my kids. We play a board game almost every night. Lately it has been chess or Settlers. We always make sure we're wearing our Sunday best when playing chess.
It has really been entertaining. Sure! There has been a lot of stuff I should be doing, but I feel like my kids are growing up on me before my eyeballs and I don't mind taking a moment to stretch this age out before they move on. They seem to notice me spending the extra time with them too. So, much that they want to sleep in my room while Mat is out of town. I do have to draw the line somewhere (and I usually do), but I was feeling lonely, and I welcomed the company.
Lastly, walking the parents. Have you seen it? The kids would secretly clip these lanyards on us and walk us while we weren't looking. Just silly! They thought they were so tricky, and sometimes they were.

Post Christmas Gift Cards
Oh boy! A few little purchases with some Christmas money and gift cards.
Becket: Anything Hero Factory--He would like to conquer them all. He can put one together as fast as you can say Jackie Robinson. So fast, that he won't even take off his jacket when he's home from school. Must. Put. Together. Now.
Gretchen: Wiggle room for this car. She's always wanted one and now she can't even walk to the fridge anymore. She has to use her car.
This is the current garage she parks it in.
Sometimes I jump on for a ride to the laundry room.
Micah: Lots of equestrian girls. They look funky to me, but she quietly brushes her doll (if you would call it that) while she sings the theme song.

Cafe Racer
Mat's dad passed away when he was around the age of 6. Sadly, it was a high speed crash on a motorcycle that took his life. 3 weeks before his passing, he purchased a motorcycle that has been collecting dust. Not know what to do with it, Mat decided to strip it down and get it running again. The style is called, Cafe Racer. Rev and Seth over at Salt City Builds have been working on it to get it going.
Jocelyn was in town and happen to go bomber on us and decided to have a sit.
Piece by piece it is coming together. I've never seen Mat so excited about something.

Rest Easy
We can all rest easy now, especially since we know that this flat stanley version of dog is resting comfortably while micah is away at school.
What a fun treat to stumble upon in the afternoon after gathering laundry.

Haiti Pictures
Brothers working together to achieve more. Tom's an anesthesiologist in Colorado Springs. He joined Mat this time on his trip to Haiti. These brothers mesh well together not only with interests and hobbies, but work ethic too. They have a planted esp in their brains. Example, they started to grow out their beards at the same time without either one knowing about the other. I believe it was a Thursday they said goodbye to their razors knowing they'd be spending a week in Haiti. They got called twins many times and even wore their same GoLite outfits daily. Tom was able to turn over the surgery room in 20 minutes instead of what normally takes the OR in Haiti 90min. Increasing their volume of surgery!
Tom in action!
#2 shingles on her scalp and eyelid
#3 car accident
#4 fatty tumors in the eye sockets
#1 Tumor surgery on right
#2 tumor surgery on right
#1 baby born with no eye
#2 cut eye
#3 and #4 tearing
Tumor found behind her eye the size of an egg
Rare skin disorder
Baby before the removal of abscess. This baby is 1 mth old and was the cutest and youngest baby Mat had ever seen.
Mat just wanted to hold this little guy to comfort him a bit after all of his trauma. It took 4 people to pin his limbs down, 20 min to drain the cyst, and 30 seconds to calm him down.
I asked if he could bring this baby home, but he already had good parents taking care of him.

Hair Brain Idea
Always nice when your kids get a wild thought in their minds. Gretchen decided at 7PM it was time to make freshly squeezed orange juice. Why not? Away she went juicing and declaring it was the best orange juice she ever had---(mostly because she made it)

1 day out of the 365
It's the most wonderful time of the year in my opinion. It's the time of year we muck out every corner, rummage through every closet, scour the tippy tops of shelves and leave no cushion unturned. I LOVE THIS DAY! Wish my family shared in my same excitement and the feeling you get when you have when you have purged all the unnecessaries. I tell my kids, it's my birthday and Christmas wrapped up into one day (shortly after I crack my whip and tell them to stop complaining). Happy New Year!
